Description
The Cargolin is a versatile tool that can be used to transport many types of loads. It consists of several interlocking and lockable components.
Each user can purchase only the components they need for their own purposes.
The Cargolin has been designed and engineered to work with a size M Balissandre, which is the original model in the Randoline range of packsaddles. It is an extremely sturdy packsaddle, made from 40 mm ash wood, capable of carrying loads of over 100 kg.
However, be mindful of the animal’s capabilities. The carrying tool, as its name suggests, is made for carrying. It is therefore reserved for animals of a certain size that are strong and resilient.
Another unrivalled advantage is that you first install the bare Balissandre on the animal, then clip the various Cargolin components onto the pack saddle one by one.

This construction results in an extremely strong and rigid assembly. The flat iron pieces have round holes for attaching bungee cords and oblong holes for passing belts through.

Sliding bridles and hooks allow the Cargolin to adapt to all models and sizes of Balissandre. They also accommodate all configurations of the pack saddle’s descending arches, regardless of the shape and width of the donkey, both at the front and rear.
Material
The Cargolin is made of steel.
The flat parts are 5 mm thick. They are not painted, but lightly oiled to prevent oxidation while in storage at Randoline. Users can then protect and/or paint them with a special metal paint in the colour of their choice. The photo on the right shows a Cargolin painted red.
The tubes are made of stainless steel. There is therefore no need to paint them.

These two metal plates will support all the components of the Cargolin. They can remain in place, while the other components of the Cargolin are simply clip-on and can be easily removed after
The hooks
The hooks slide into the slots of the metal plates. They are connected to the metal plates using two Ø 8 mm square neck bolts, then a washer and a lock nut. The advantage of the square neck bolt is that only one spanner is needed to tighten the nut. The head of the bolt is wedged into the slot by its square neck.

The Descendant
The Descendant is a vertical element that hangs from the Hooks.
Once suspended from the Hooks, it rests on the Balissandre arches at an angle of approximately 10°.
It is delivered assembled with 2 tubes (numbers 1 and 3), but an additional tube (number 2) can be added at mid-height and another tube (number 4) at the bottom for more precise attachment of certain loads.
The Descendant can be used as is on the pack-saddle if you need to take a very narrow path with bulky but light loads.

The Horizontal Arm
The horizontal arm clips onto the descendant, forming a sort of chair on which loads can be placed.
It is delivered assembled with four tubes.
It can be locked onto the descendant in two ways:
– either with an agricultural pin in the 7 mm diameter hole.
– or with a square collar bolt in the hole provided for this purpose.
Loads can be secured using bungee cords attached to the tubes, or straps threaded through the oblong holes.
The horizontal arm is used to place heavy loads that need to rest flat: hay bales, stakes, cement bags, slates, gas bottles, etc.

The Uplift
The Uplift is a vertical element that clips into the tubes of the horizontal arm to form a kind of basket.
It can be clipped into tube 6 or tube 7 of the horizontal arm, forming a flat base 27 cm or 38 cm wide.
It is delivered assembled with 2 tubes (numbers 9 and 11), but an additional tube (number 10) can be added at mid-height for more precise attachment of certain loads.
It can be locked onto the horizontal arm in two ways:
– either with an agricultural pin in the Ø 7 mm hole.
– or with a square collar bolt in the hole provided for this purpose.
The uplift will be used for loads that need to be held on both sides: logs, stakes, etc.

Locking
Locking consists of locking the Cargolin parts together so that the tool forms a single rigid assembly.
Square holes are provided in the Descendants, Horizontal Arms and Uplifts. Normal bolts or, better still, square neck bolts (see order items below) Ø 8 mm can be inserted and secured with washers and lock nuts.
Locking is recommended for transporting heavy loads.
The parts can also be locked together with agricultural pins (see order items below) inserted into the Ø 6 mm holes.
