The magic trick of  Randoline Packsaddles :
the articulated tracked pads

In 2009 Randoline developed a revolutionary technology: making mobile the entire support surface of the pads on which the packadle and its load rest.

To do this, each packsaddle rests on a number of pads (8 pads for the Balaïtous, 10 pads for the Balissandre, Bastillon and Bassador, and… 2 for a cross-braced packsaddle…). Each pad is connected to the packsaddle by a rubber pad, which can move in all directions. The result is extraordinary: at every second of the walk, whatever the configuration of the path, whatever the shape of the animal’s back, all the pads rest flat on the back. There’s no more risk of injury. For the first time in the world, the pack-saddle  adapts to the animal, and not the animal  suffers under the planks.

Patinets

For example, on a Bastillon, the total bearing surface on the back is 960 cm2. For a Balissandre size M 1,306 cm2. For a Balaïtous 1,000 cm2. For a Balaska 1,627 cm2. The largest bearing surface of any pack-saddle on the market. And the only pack-saddle where every cm2 is useful for carrying. This technique was already used in some pack-saddles in northern Italy, but with heavy hinges that limited their effectiveness.

Warning: this rubber pad is not the kind you find behind doors. It’s a high-density, 60 Shore industrial rubber that’s virtually indestructible. And, of course, it can be replaced in the event of a tear. A rescue pad is systematically attached to each packsaddle just in case.
